Jon Snow " Game Of Thrones "

Today, i chose to speak about one of the best characters of one of the best series of the decade, it's Jon Snow from HBO's " Games of Thrones ".

Basic Informations:Character Profile: Jon Snow (Lord Snow)
  • Culture: Northman
  • Titles: Steward To Lord Commander Mormont
  • House: None
  • Siblings: Robb Stark, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, Bran Stark, Rickon Stark (Half-Siblings)
  • Spouse: None
  • Children: None
  • Status: Alive, Currently Prisoner to the Lord of Bones, north of the Wall.
  • Portrayed by: Kit Harington
  • Jon Snow's Childhood : Growing up in Winterfell wasn't all easy for Jon. Few men take their bastard sons into their home like Eddard did, and Jon continues to be a point of contention between Catelyn and Ned right up until he leaves Winterfell for good, and takes his vows as a brother of the Night's Watch.
Jon is greatly influenced by his uncle Benjen, who served as a role model to Jon since a young age. When Jon told him that he wished to be a 'Ranger' for the Watch, Benjen took him back to the Wall for his initiation. Instead of finding the Watch populated by men of high caliber, he found that it was instead, run down and largely in disrepair and staffed by ex-cons and criminals with no other option. Among these folk, he was the best trained, which earned him resentment among his new peers. Eventually, he established amicable relationships with most of his compatriots, with the exception of Ser Allister Thorne, who mockingly dubs him "Lord Snow.

  • Stark's Blood : Jon Snow is the bastard son of the late Eddard Stark and an unknown woman, referred only to as Wylla. Jon grew up living a fairly noble life, raised among the other Stark children at Winterfell, taught to fight and ride, as well as behave properly at court. Like Eddard and the other Stark boys, Jon was raised to believe in the Old Gods, rather than the 'Seven' that the Southerners pray to.Jon was raised as a Stark and Northerner and in many ways took to their values of honor, to which he tries to conform even when faced with complex and morally ambiguous decisions. Jon always had issues with his bastardy and at time feels alienated; he eventually chose to join the Night's Watch, where the circumstances of his birth were of little importance; his decision also mean that he has to leave all bonds of the past behind. For a long time he struggles with this but gradually comes to understand what it means to be a black brother and fully accepts his role as such.Even at age fourteen, Jon is said to have more Stark-like features than any of his siblings. He has a lean build and a long face, with dark brown hair and grey eyes.. After joining the Night's Watch he dresses in their official black garb.

Omar Little

I had several characters on my mind to choose from, but finally i went with Omar Little from HBO's " The WIRE " to be the first character i talk about.
The Only reason is that : Omar is the toughest Character out there.
  • Omar Comin : When your on the street, walking, hustling, selling drugs or what so ever and you hear Omar Whisling, just start running coz Omar is Coming.
  •  He is loved because he is meaner, funnier, cooler and braver than any other character you've ever seen on TV. He is unpredictable, complicated and brilliantly strange. Amid all the show's vicious drug dealers, corrupt politicians and compromised cops, Omar is the only figure who adheres to a strict, if perverse, moral code. He also has a way-cool facial scar. But simply, Omar Little is the most unique character in the most unique television show of all time.

  • Omar was not supposed to live long : "They originally said seven episodes and you're out of here," says Michael K Williams, the man who plays him, "but after the first few weeks filming, David Simon and Ed Burns [the shows creators] came up to me on set and said they loved the passion I was bringing to it. They said they wanted to expand the role and told me to go and watch The Wild Bunch. They'd based a lot of the character on those old westerns." His croaking drawl is just like Omar's but the stuff he says isn't. Its strange to hear him self-deprecate, guffaw and use phrases like: "Dance was my first passion." Nevertheless, Williams' performances are heavily informed by his own eventful upbringing. "I grew up in East Flatbush in Brooklyn which was an intense neighbourhood filled with different West Indian cultures, he says. I never dealt drugs or went to jail but I was always getting myself in what I call knuckle-headed trouble. Jumping into situations I could have avoided. The gangsters knew who I was and left me alone.
  • Barack Obama : Barack Obama recently named Omar Little as his favourite character in his favourite show. "That's not an endorsement," the American president added carefully. "He's not my favourite person but he's a fascinating character." Barack was right. Of all the brilliantly drawn, authentically complex and relentlessly captivating characters in this show's sprawling cast, he is surely the most engaging.

  • Omar is different : Compared to most of the violent street kids caught up in The Wires drug game, Omar cuts an almost Wildean figure. He swaggers through the streets of Baltimore like a gun-toting dandy in his long coat and fancy headscarves. He is poetic, lacing his dialogue with old-fashioned, incongruous phrases like "indeed", "do tell" and "I think not". He is a mine of insight and wisdom on the ugly, broken world he lives in.

The Reason

Yesterday, I was playing a game on my phone called "Series Quiz", the game is simple and hard at the same time. The goal is to recognize the characters of TV Series based on their photos. So while i was struggling to remember the names of the characters, i had an idea. What if i created a website or a blog with one goal, present all the main characters of the best series out there.
So this is a first try, hope you enjoy it.
